Calm-PRT® is a product designed to balance excessive excitatory neurotransmitter levels and to reduce the overstimulation by epinephrine and norepinephrine and is an effective adjunct when inhibitory neurotransmitter support on its own fails to produce the desired outcome. As a result of faulty HPA signaling, the excretion of epinephrine and norepinephrine can exceed normal levels and may remain elevated long after the stress situation has ended. The Calm-PRT formulation helps to restore proper HPA signaling for steady neurotransmitter levels throughout the day and can be used as adjunct therapy to any NeuroScience Inc. program where additional inhibitory support is required. Ingredients Calm-PRT contains the adaptogen Rhodiola rosea, which at low doses has been widely studied due to its ability to affect the activity of dopamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine, and acetylcholine during stress. The higher doses of Rhodiola Rosea found in Calm-PRT in contrast can reduce overstimulation. This effect is enhanced by the actions of phosphotidylserine. Phosphotidylserine is the major phospholipid in the brain and is involved with many crucial aspects of cellular membrane function including: cell-to-cell recognition and communication, reception of molecular messages from outside the cell, and the cellular exchange of nutrients. Phosphotidylserine has also been used to reduce cortisol levels in patients with high cortisol Glycine is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain-stem and spinal cord and is included to help control overstimulation. Taurine is included in Calm-PRT for it’s ability to enhance GABA function. Stressful conditions trigger the body to prepare for ‘fight or flight’ by signaling the adrenal glands to produce additional epinephrine and norepinephrine; this in turn leads to increased heart rate and increased production of glucose to prepare the body for strenuous activity. When the stressful situation has passed, the adrenal glands call on coritsol to stop the additional production of epinephrine and norepinephrine. Unfortunately, many stressed individuals have inadequate adrenal cortisol production and are unable to bring epinephrine and norepinephrine secretion under control. As a result, the continually elevated levels of epinephrine and norepinephrine can exacerbate stress. Calm-PRT is designed to reduce the over-secretion of epinephrine and norepinephrine by restoring proper communication within the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Calm-PRT contains an extract of the adaptogen Rhodiola rosea (a source of biologically-active rosavins) which has been found to decrease the effects of stress and fatigue. Calm-PRT also contains SerinAid, a high-quality preparation of phosphatidyl serine. Phosphatidylserine is a major component of cell membranes, and has been shown to restore sensitivity to desensitized cortisol receptors within the HPA axis. Glycine and taurine are included for additional inhibitory neurotransmitter support. Calm-PRT provides neurotransmitter support for stress, anxiety, and restlessness.
